How much counter space next to stove

If you're remodeling your kitchen, you may be wondering how much counter space to put next to the stove. While the exact amount of counter space is a personal decision, most experts agree that at least 9 inches of counter space on either side of the stove is necessary for safety and convenience.

Having counter space next to the stove helps both with keeping the kitchen tidy and making meal preparation easier. On one side it's convenient for having ingredients and cooking utensils ready on hand. On the other side, it provides a safe spot for hot cookware, reducing stress in the kitchen and helping to keep countertops away from excess heat.

The deeper your counters are, the more room you will have for all of your cooking accessories. Generally speaking, 24 inches deep is perfect as it allows enough room for larger pots and pans while still leaving enough room to have some items stored beneath while they are being used. If you're planning on having an island or peninsula nearby then adding even more depth can help take full advantage of it. Additionally, installing a few panels over the top can provide extra storage or create some additional workbench area that can come in handy when cooking large meals or when prepping large amounts of food at once.

For appliances like microwaves or wall ovens there should be about 15 inches of clearance between these units and any existing counters so there is enough room to remove food without hitting any cabinets or drawers nearby. This will also provide some additional space if needed when using larger cookware items such as platters or casserole dishes.
